The Capital Quest | Israel’s Apiiro snags $100 mn; Revuze, Tagado, Port get early cheques

Israeli cybersecurity company Apiiro has raised $100 million in a Series B funding round led by General Catalyst with participation by Greylock and Kleiner Perkins.

Apiiro said it will use the money to grow its business and double the workforce from its current strength of 95.

In October 2020, Apiiro had raised $35 million in a Series A round led by Greylock Partners and Kleiner Perkins. As bunch of cyber entrepreneurs also took part in the round. These included Mickey Boodaei, Rakesh Loonkar, Amichai Shulman, and the founders of Demisto, which was sold to Palo Alto.

The company had reportedly been an acquisition target for Palo Alto Networks in a potential deal that would have valued it between $500 million and $600 million but the purported transaction never fructified.

Apiiro was founded by former Israeli defence officers Idan Plotnik and Yonatan Eldar. Plotnik was previously the co-founder and CEO of Aorato, which was sold to Microsoft for $200 million. Eldar was Aorato’s head of development.

Revuze

Revuze, a developer of consumer insights platform, has raised $12 million in a round led by growth equity firm PSG.

PSG was joined in the round by industry veterans Karyn Schoenbart and Tod Johnson, former CEO and Executive Chairman, respectively, of global market research leader NPD Group.

With this, Revuze has raised $24 million since it was founded in 2013 by Boaz Grinvald (CEO) and Ido Ramati (COO and President).

At present, the company employs 50 people and is headquartered in Netanya, with offices in New York and in Canada.

The company will use the new money to expand into the US market and to scale its technology.

Tagado

Israeli company Tagado, which has developed a customer feedback platform has raised a $4 million seed funding round.

Tagado will use the new money to recruit more people and expand its business into the US market.

It has developed a platform that collects customer feedback about companies and transforms them into business insights using natural language processing (NPL)

The startup was founded last year by Ohad Zadok, CEO, Eli Lepkifker, CTO, and Dor Stern, VP of Research & Development.

The Tel Aviv-based company currently employs 10 people and counts among its clients BreezoMeter, Melio, and CuraLife.

Zadok was earlier the VP of Product at BreezoMeter, which was acquired by Google, and founded Gadgety, an Israeli technology website. Lefkifkar was VP of NLP & Data Science at Citibank, and Stern wss the head of the development team at Bidalgo (which was acquired by IronSource).

Port

Port, an Israeli startup which has developed a builder-based internal developer portal, has raised $7 million in a seed round led by TLV Partners.

The round was also joined by Yoav Landman (founder and CTO of JFrog) and Shlomo Kramer (co-founder of Check Point, Imperva and Cato Networks).

The 20-employee strong Port was founded by Zohar Einy and Yonatan Boguslavski less than a year ago.
