Africa-focused private equity firm Amethis, which has had a busy 2022 with nearly half a dozen investment and exit transactions and completed the fundraising process for a new regional PE fund, has elevated five executives, including addition of three new partners.
Amethis said Wednesday it has promoted Adnane Zerhouni, Toufic Khoueiry and Wilfried Poyet to Partners while naming Khady Kone-Dicoh and Nicolas Manardo as Senior Partners.
Zerhouni, Khoueiry and Poyet are the leads for Amethis’ new MENA fund, leveraging their hands-on experience across the region’s major markets. The firm had recently hit a fundraising milestone when it made a final close for its second fund aimed at Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Zerhouni is based in Casablanca. He recently led several investments in the region such as Best Health or CFG in Morocco, Global Corp in Egypt. Prior to joining Amethis in 2018, he was M&A Director of Saham Group in Casablanca, where he performed numerous investments on the African continent, in different sectors and particularly in the health sector. Prior to that, he was an investment banker in London in the M&A departments of Deutsche Bank and Barclays Capital, from 2005 to 2012.
Khoueiry is based in Paris and oversees Egypt and the Levant. He led Amethis MENA Fund II’s investment in Tarjama in Jordan, the regional leader in the language services sector, and is in the process of executing several transactions in Egypt and the Levant in the technology, healthcare, and consumer sectors.
Prior to joining Amethis in 2019, Khoueiry was a Principal at NBK Capital Partners in Dubai for 8 years, where he completed numerous investments across the MENA region. Prior to that, Toufic worked for three years in strategy consulting space with Strategy& in the Middle East.
Poyet is based in Casablanca. He has completed numerous investments with Amethis in Morocco, where he has lived for over sixteen years, with Magriser as his latest deal, and another in the logistics sector planned in the coming weeks.
Khady Kone-Dicoh, who has been with Amethis for nearly a decade and was promoted to Partner last year, co-leads Amethis’ pan-African strategy and covers in particular West and Southern Africa. She has led a dozen investments and divestments for Amethis.
Manardo, who oversees the European strategy, has been named Senior Partner. Manardo had joined Amethis in April 2021 as a Partner after several years as Managing Director of the small caps team of LBO France where he completed several majority and minority transactions.
With this, Amethis continues to strengthen its platform, which now has more than 45 employees, including 11 partners, six offices and five funds representing €850 million in assets under management.
